Day 74 - Sydney Fashion Festival...FAIL

Just my luck. Mercedez-Benz Fashion Festival for Spring 2011 had to happen on the weekend before my exam. So, unfortunately, I will have to wait till the next one. I was so looking forward to it especially since the venue is just 2 streets away from my apartment.
BUUUT, I am prepared for Vogue's Fashion Night out on September 8 :) I can't wait to post about it.

On another note, I just saw my blog views and I've had almost 40 views on average since Day 1. Awww :) I did this blog as a project that I was planning with my friends before I left and now I'm still keeping it updated as promised :) Yahoo!

In the meantime, Here's what I missed. Trust me, I will go to the next one!

Sniff. I wanted to go so bad.

Some pieces from the festival that I loved. *Just had to include a hot guy in board shorts of course :)

Day 73 - Study Group?

Luckily I had these two to make accounting somewhat fun.
Well, the three large pizzas and chicken wings helped :) Yes, we had one pizza each. Thanks Domino! Oh, and awesome thai milk tea!

Day 72 - Food that got me through my first uni exam

Thank god my first exam is over. I love the subject and I love my professor, but I hate memorizing theories. I had two power breakfasts, my energy drink (recommended by my Sydney brothers) and a chocolate bar from my flatmate, Jeromy :)

On to my accounting exam on Wednesday.. DEATH.

Day 71 - Exam pressure

Exams are getting to me. I needed to clear my head. A few hours in a cafe by the beach while the boys went surfing helped to calm my nerves. It was worth the sacrfice. Energy drink tonight will hopefully keep me up tonight to cram for Monday's exam. More pics coming up in Facebook. In the meantime, here's a recap. Now back to studying!

Manly Beach!

Day 70 - Feeling smart

It's a good day today. I was up early, dressed well and ready to start another new adventure :)

While waiting for work to start, I read a newspaper. Yes, its the Financial Times. Everyone who knows me, also knows I hate reading the paper because it gets my fingers dirty. I would rather learn about current affairs over the internet. It would have been more convincing if there wasn't a Fashion Spread on the front page. :) But it really was the Financial Times and what can I say, Fashion is everywhere :) Big business.

Day 69 - Thirsty Thursdays

I don't know why I named my blog post that way. Maybe it has something to do with the number 69.
Been so busy so I haven't had time to update my blog. I've been taking picture though so here it is:

Had an almost 12-hour work shift. So to start my day, I had toasted banana bread with butter. If I could have this for breakfast every day, I wouldn't mind :)

Day 68 - Friends with Benefits

FINALLY :) This was a highly anticipated movie for me. Haha! Blockbuster proportions. I never really lost my love for Justin Timberlake. Though he was literally bad in his last movie with Cameron Diaz. Anyway, this movie was AWESOME (favorite word, I know).

Had Thai dinner at Herb and Spice before watching with my "special" friends (Refer to the big picture). Then bought M&Ms at K-mart for some movie snackin :)

Good chill night with my Sydney family :)

Day 67 - Bam! Its Spam!

Craved for Spam :) Now this is my breakfast, lunch and dinner for 2 days! Well, not really but you get the gist.

I like it extra extra crispy. Stupid oil almost took out my left eye. Thank god for my ninja hand movements while cooking.

Day 66 - Asian & "Amuricans" :)

I say AWESOME a lot apparently. Noted. Will try to say it less but AWESOME really is an Awesome word. Anyway, took my work mates to some local Asian joints last Friday night. It became a night of pearl-shootin', gulpin' instead of slurpin' noodles & fur spotting in Chinatown. It was a good night indeed.

Day 65 - Cables and Chicken

PENRITH : This is where we went for wakeboarding in the freezing cold just because we had vouchers and we were all itching to ride.

GRANVILLE : This is where we ate Lebanese Lemurian chicken with yummy chips in chicken salt and garlic sauce. It was so good. Then we had macaroons and baklava in this other place down the road. Food trip heaven.

Day 63 - Max Brenner

A rainy day in Sydney today.
After work, Moe and I went to Max Brenner to meet our friend Ana who just started working there. We split the Banana Chocolate Pizza & Ana got the Tutti Frutti Waffle.
On a different topic, I still want a Prada bag. DAMNIT.

Day 62 - Awesome Gift

I got a new awesome toy! And my sister was nice enough to make it an early birthday gift from Hailey. I love it :) I've been eye-ing it at work and she offered to get it for me in advance! Doesn't it look great with my laptop? Its the perfect stiletto speakers :)

Day 61 - How fast time flies

I've been in Aussie 2 months now?! It was pointed out by my good friend Ely who I miss a lot. I didn't even notice. I'm both sad and happy at the same time :)

Nice weather today. I love it when my shift is in Westfield Sydney.
Had a yummy gluten-free brownie at Becasse Bakery.

Day 60 - Strawberries & Chocolate

Having a hard time concentrating on my assignment. My bed, internet surfing, facebook & shopping are such great temptations. So when I did my grocery this morning, I bought something to jolt the hyper-ness out of me and attack my marketing plan with gusto!

Strawberries & Chocolate Dip

Three days to catch up (Day 57 to 59)

This weekend went by soooo fast. I was busy working and doing my marketing plan that had I posted pictures earlier, it would be myself wearing pajamas, with my uncombed hair and all my paperwork in all the blog posts. Not a good idea.

This weekend was pretty uneventful. I didn't even get to see my friend Mike who visited from Canberra for the weekend and only to find out he was staying almost beside my apartment. FAIL ANNICK.

I can't wait to submit my marketing plan and finish my final exams at the end of August.

Day 57 - Masquerade party :)

Flatmates had a masquerade party. My awesome flatmate did not have a mask so he bought face paint. Good job though! Even if it was copied from a Lady Gaga picture!

MOE-HAWK!

A good friend of mine decided to have a drastic haircut. I wasn't sure if he looked more like Mr.T (left) or Apl.de.ap(right). Let's just say it was a good night filled with "Gotta get get" :)

Masters in International Law..Yeees!

Congratulations babe aka Anaway! It feels like I've known you forever! Keep the pastries and coffee coming! :) You're awesome!

Day 56 - Non stop

I'm working 4 days in a row this week. Today was an eight-hour shift followed by a hip-hop dance class, then raced over to meet my Philo crew at Chinatown.
Wanted to go for a drink but opted to rest. Tommorow is full day again of morning class, straight to an afternoon work shift then drinks with a friend from Perth. I need to find time to rest. I like it when I'm busy but this is pushing it!

Oily face! Thanks for taking my pic Bea!

Day 55 - surprise pastries

I have awesome flatmates. One of 'em dropped by work to give me pastries from the cafe he worked at. One piece for my tired feet, one for my hungry tummy and the third one for good measure.

Day 54 - The Perfect Wednesday

Awesome day.
*Woke up at 9am. Worked on my marketing plan till noon.
*Had lunch with my 2 awesome flatmates, Charlene & Kenny at a Japanese restaurant (here)
then dessert at 85 degrees. CHARLENE.FAIL.CUPCAKES.
*Then back to studying till 6pm when Charlene, Ming and I attended our first Jazz Funky Hiphop Class :) I missed dancing and I can't wait to do it at least once a week.

I have an awesome futsal team, I'm back to dancing and soon I'll get to wakeboard in 2 weeks! :) Having a part-time job allows me to save and still have a life!

Day 53 - Midnight Snack

I am obsessed with these suckers :) It's so chewy and soft :) Like eating cookie dough. I have got to stop eating at midnight. DAMN IT. Whoops, a crumb fell on my laptop. hahaha!

YUM

Day 52 - Lecture

Marketing Management

This is what I see during my lecture at one of my classes in school. Yes, I'm in the 2nd row so I'm in the middle of the action and less chance of falling asleep out of embarrassment :)

Day 51 - Soup Nazi

Beautiful weather today and then it started raining late afternoon. My study group was cancelled and I was stuck at home to do my accounting project. It was cold and I was craving for something hot and little spicy. When I did the grocery over the weekend, I was tempted by a Singapore Laksa instant noodle soup. I haven't had instant noodles or pancit canton in over a year and a half due a cancer survivor story that scared me. Anyway, story short, I broke my year long "NO INSTANT NOODLE" phase over a hot Laksa soup this cold Sunday night. I found a way to make a yummy soup using a different method :) Longer but worth it.

 Steps

  1. Boil the noodles in a pot with water then drain after cooked to remove the water with the wax.
  2. Boil another pot of water and put the noodles into hot boiling water and then turn the heat off.
  3. Only at this stage when the heat is off, and while the water is very hot, put the ingredients with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
  4. Then if you want, you can put pepper, onion, some vegetables and maybe an egg to make your meal healthier and more delicious.
I added shredded chicken (left over from my quarter chicken from the deli), knorr powder, an egg and pepper.  Oooh, and a little olive oil.

Gourmet Instant Noodle dinner with buttered toast :)

Day 50 - D for DESSERT

Had yummy Taiwanese dessert tonight. Went for dinner at Pepper Lunch with my Philo crew before heading to Meet Fresh to taste their yummy balls. No pun intended.
You know its good when Asians line up and its packed inside and outside the place. Decided to try Taro Ball No. 5. Bea had the Mango Supreme which was for 2 people, she wasn't informed though (Mo's fault). Mine was AWESOME :)

7th week - Sweet and Crunchy to remind me of home

I love Monde Butter Coconut Cookies from Manila. Thanks to Kimi-uh for introducing me to them :) At a cheap but awesome price of P10 per pack. I couldn't bring it here. It sucked.
I know, Australia is awesome except for their super strict and expensive immigration laws.
BUT, as luck would have it, they have it in the Asian supermarket across my apartment :)
Spring, come slowly, my tummy needs a little coaxing to get ready for you :)

Day 48 - Dreaming of dippin

I don't remember what this appetizer is called. All I know is I want to eat this in Chatthai again!

Day 47 - Fishy Dinner

After working a 9:30-5:30pm shift, I went straight to Zumba class with my friend, Ming. Take note that the last time I ate was at noon and just a couple of grapes before class. Therefore, I had a huge late dinner of salmon and cream cheese sandwich and sushi from my flatmate Jeremy! :) Assorted shrimp, unagi, avocado and salmon sushi! A.W.E.S.O.M.E

Day 46 - Hyper breakfast

Banana bread with nutella! Thanks Mo for introducing it to me!
And my no fail omelet to get my day started.

Day 45 - view

A view from a park in Rhodes near IKEA.
We caught the sunset. I can't wait for Spring!

Day 44 - CAFE Carbs overload

The cafe where my friend worked was closing for good today so we were lucky enough to get all the yummy food that was on display. It seemed like a good idea after work when we were at the peak of hunger. BUT after consuming everything, it became a night of snorting, flatulence, sugar rush and craziness...

*Chai Latte
*Chicken Wrap
*Salmon Wrap
*Tuna Wrap
*Raspberry Scones
*Apple Rhubarb Crumble
*Banana Bread
*Marshmallows
